How to Measure Doors

Measuring doors at a property is similar to measuring windows


Note: Remember, under Convention 2.14 ' A door may be treated as a window if it is considered to be highly glazed.'


If you determine it's highly glazed, and therefore a window, you'll be including these measurements in your window section of the software.


Below is an example of a highly glazed door that would be considered a window.


Note that when we we are taking measurements of the width and height, we are including the frame and any glass above the door opening. We are not including the architraves. 

However, if it remains a door (and not a window) we may still require measurements for our Retrofit Assessments, and we would still measure the door including the frame.


Looking at the door below, we would measure both the height and the width of the door and frame, excluding the architraves.

Doors with Windows Above

On many occasions, you may encounter a door with a window above it, as shown in the picture below.


This should be included as part of the frame of the door rather than a separate window.


As in the photo below, you would measure the height and width, including the glass area above the door together.
